Wealden District Council member for Hailsham West, Chairman of Hailsham Conservatives and Wealden Conservative Association Officer. Richard seeks re-election to the district council in May's elections.

I have lived In Hailsham for over forty years and married to Susan.

Before retirement I ran a fresh food shop in the town centre. Since retirement I have set up the charity Environment Hailsham which raises the funds to grow, plant and maintain the floral  displays in Hailsham, keeping our town looking beautiful.

I have served on Wealden District Council for the past eight years, being the Chairman of the Audit, Finance and Governance committee, also vice-Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny and Licensing committee. Positions I hope to continue if re-elected.

I am also Armed Forces Champion for Wealden, a position which I feel very privileged to hold being a veteran myself.

Planning Fact – I have worked hard to stop planning applications that you do not want:

  • Woodpecker Drive: Refused,
  • Gleneagles: Refused, The Belfry/Western Road: Refused,
  • Forest View: Refused.

Re-elect me on 4th May and I promise to continue on your behalf.

•Keep Council Tax as low as possible while providing high-class services and best-possible customer care.
•Ensure that the proposed new Medical Centre is built.

•Achieve lower house-building targets for Hailsham, and ensure the Neighbourhood Plan is followed.

•Keep parking free in Hailsham and across Wealden District.

•Help to get better infrastructure and improved roads in Hailsham and further afield.
