The Care Quality Commission's rating of "Good" in its Assessment of Adult Social Care in Conservative-led East Sussex was welcomed by members of the ruling Cabinet which met today (21 October).

Lead Member responsible, Conservative Cllr Carl Maynard, remarked on this comprehensive, independent inspection of the councii's vital services in providing social care to adults. He thanked all those at the council responsible for what was a huge and thorough evaluation. "It was heartening to see the report's vindication of the hard work, day-in day-out, and the good quality service that is provided to residents of East Sussex."

"This is something we should all be very pleased to see and very proud of", he told the meeting.

Cllr Maynard highlighted the continued challenges faced in funding adult health and social care provision and also referred to what he called 'misinformation' in another local authority in the county where leaders spoke about adult social care in East Sussex being "broken."

He was referring to the scurrilous remarks made by some of those leading the Green/LibDem-run Wealden District. Cllr Maynard asked those responsible to step aside from political misinformation.

"We must be very clear that services people receive are of a good quality, that's been vindicated by this comprehensive inspection, and we should shout very loudly about the good services in East Sussex ", he told the meeting at County Hall in Lewes.
