Nusrat Ghani MP welcomes investment in local buses

Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, has welcomed the news that Brighton and Hove Buses have launched 24 new buses on their Sussex routes.

The brand new vehicles, have a free Wi-Fi and USB charging points, and include accessibility features such as social seating, dementia-friendly flooring, audio-visual next stop announcements, and a hearing loop system.

The British-built buses have been introduced on several routes including the 28 route, which is a key connection between Hailsham, Brighton and Eastbourne.

The fleet of 24 new busses represents an investment of over £7 million and forms part the company’s wider £19 million investment in new vehicles for East Sussex since last year.

Nusrat Ghani said: “We have a unique rural constituency, and buses are a vital mean of transport for many residents in Sussex Weald, who rely on these services to get to work, school, shops and access healthcare services. I am pleased that passengers using the 28 route covering Hailsham will benefit from this investment and I will continue working with local providers to ensure we have reliable, affordable and accessible services across the region.”
